Individual CBT:
I offer individual cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to individuals struggling with a range of concerns. We will work together to generate a treatment plan based in scientific approaches that will help you reach your goals and live in line with your values. I have extensive training in the following approaches:
- Behavioral activation for depression
- Prolonged exposure for PTSD/trauma
- Exposure-based approaches for anxiety disorders
- Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)**
- Exposure and response prevention for OCD
- Cognitive behavior therapies (including "third wave" CBTs that incorporate mindfulness and acceptance practices) for anyone struggling with low mood, anxiety, difficulties with attention, difficulties regulating emotions, and/or interpersonal difficulties.
**Please note that while I am not currently accepting individual DBT patients, I have extensive training in DBT and utilize DBT skills in many of my treatments.
Individual DBT Skills Training:
In addition, I offer individual skills training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for individuals who could benefit from learning skills in an individualized setting rather than in a group. I will provide class-like skills training to teach you tools to help improve your life, including mindfulness (how to be present in the current moment without judgment), emotion regulation (how to know what you are feeling, change unwanted emotions, and reduce your vulnerability to experiencing negative emotions), distress tolerance (how to survive a crisis without making it worse, quickly reduce the intensity of very upsetting emotions, and accept reality), and interpersonal effectiveness (how to ask for what you want and need in a skillful way, while also maintaining important relationship). These are highly structured sessions that focus on teaching you new skills to practice to change long-standing patterns and do not replace individual therapy.
Group DBT Skills Training:
Starting in August, we will be providing group DBT skills training via telehealth. In order to qualify, you must have an individual therapist. This group is a class-like setting in which you will learn skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness (for more information, see above)!
